At CMK, we take great pride in being a part of all of our surrounding communities and volunteering whenever we can. After all, “having a positive impact on the world around us” is part of our mission statement! On Tuesday night, that’s exactly what 18 CMK agents, staff, and family did at the City Mission of Schenectady.
Receiving over a thousand pounds of clothing donations each month, CMK helped the City Mission to sort clothes and had a great time helping such a worthy cause. The clothes received are first and foremost, added to their Clothing Room which provides clothing free of charge, for men, women, and children staying at their shelters. After their Clothing Room is filled, they use different retail outlets, such as thrift stores or e-commerce, where the profits will support the programs of City Mission. By utilizing these options, they’re able to maximize the impact of the clothing donations. Finally, they also recycle clothing and shoes that are stained, ripped, dirty, etc. This provides job skill training for their residents and revenue to help support the ministries of City Mission.
We’re excited to do more volunteer work within our communities and welcome anyone who’d like to join us in our next volunteer project. If you’re interested in joining us in our next effort, simply message us via Facebook. And if you’d like to get your own group together for a volunteering activity, we’re happy to help point you to some local outlets in need!
